Caravan unhooked, suitcases unpacked and maps put away, country artist Mikayla J is breathing in the fresh Tasmanian air and planning a big year of touring in 2024.
Tassie venues have welcomed Mikayla J's energetic and gutsy approach to performing, and have quickly gotten onboard. Mikayla jokes about "changing her address to the centre of the Bass Strait," as she currently spends most of her time entertaining packed crowds on board the Spirit of Tasmania ships!
Finding a little life balance has been crucial to Mikayla's creative process after the world turned upside down in 2020. She made sure to go out with a bang; wrapping a huge Australian tour at the end of 2019. 108 shows, 10.5months on the road, 5 states, and 37000 kilometres made for a massive 2019 for the country entertainer. Playing her way through Queensland, New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, and South Australia, saw Mikayla play everywhere from small towns to cities and everywhere in between.
Travelling full time in a 13 foot vintage Millard caravan, tour life may seem a far cry from the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyles of the rich and famous, but Mikayla J “wouldn’t want it any other way.''
A career spanning 13 years displays highlights including singing with O'shea at the Golden Guitar Awards, Playing with Warren H Williams, Opening for Classic Country(Adam Harvey/Melinda Schneider/Catherine Britt/Graeme Connors), a 108 show National tour and residencies in Outback Queensland (Longreach and Winton), Thredbo Resort, NSW and at Kings Canyon Resort in the NT.
With a swag of stories and experience beyond her years, Mikayla J will have you "feeling like you've known her for years"; a defining characteristic of her storytelling and songwriting.
Coming to a town near you, very soon.
