Caravan unhooked, suitcases unpacked and maps put away, local country
artist Mikayla J is home from her 2019 Australian Tour. After a huge 10.5 months on the road, Mikayla J has returned to the Gladstone region after completing the big lap of Australia that seen her cross state lines and time zones to deliver shows to small towns, cities and everywhere in between.
A tour that consisted of 108 shows, 5 states, and 36800 kilometres, all in the space of 312 days, has made for a massive 2019 for the local country entertainer. Playing her way through Queensland, New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, and South Australia, saw Mikayla play everywhere from pubs to caravan parks. Travelling full time in a 13 foot vintage Millard caravan, tour life may seem a far cry from the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyles of the rich and famous, but Mikayla J “wouldn’t want it any other way.''
When asked if the tour was all smooth sailing, Mikayla remarked “we left washing behind, forgot about time zone changes, and ran out of fuel, but it’s all part of the story and the fun!”
Highlight gigs of the tour included 12 shows at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January, and a 28 show residency at Kings Canyon Resort in the North Territory in June.
