Caravan unhooked, suitcases unpacked and maps put away, contemporary country artist Mikayla J has wrapped her 2019 National Tour. Completing the big lap of Oz saw Mikayla cross state lines and time zones, to deliver shows to small towns, cities and everywhere in between.
A tour that consisted of 108 shows, 5 states, and 37000 kilometres, over 312 days, has made for a massive 2019 for the central Queensland country entertainer. Highlight gigs of the tour included 12 shows at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and a 28 show residency at Kings Canyon Resort in the Northern Territory.
Playing her way through Queensland, New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, and South Australia, in a 13-foot vintage Millard caravan, tour life may seem a far cry from the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyles of the rich and famous, but Mikayla J “wouldn’t want it any other way.''
This tour followed a massive 2018 which saw Mikayla graduate from the prestigious CMAA Academy of Country Music, sing with Award-winning country duo O’Shea at the Golden Guitar Awards and hold a winter music residency at Thredbo Resort.
Raised on the ever-changing landscapes of Central Queensland, to as far west as Paraburdoo in Western Australia, Mikayla J’s unique experience of Australia and the communities she lived in provided a platform for her to tell stories that comment on society and the people within it. Her desire to connect and communicate through honest storytelling has seen Mikayla play in small towns and regional areas all over the country.
Mikayla J is stepping out with a lyrically driven sound that has taken her from Tennant Creek NT, around Australia, all the way to Nashville Tennessee and has seen her support some of Australia’s best country artists along the way.
Mikayla’s selfless love of music has led to her supporting local charities and working alongside the Jimmy Little Foundation.
With new music and more touring in the works for 2021, Mikayla J is set to keep reaching new heights with her music.
